vlt.stats.ranks

  RANKS - Returns vector of ranks of X adjusted for ties

  Y = vlt.stats.ranks(X)

  If X is a vector, return the (column) vector of ranks of
  X adjusted for ties.

  If X is a matrix, do the above for each column of X
